Mr. Chunky Chhetry is a distinguished figure in Nepal’s insurance landscape, currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance Company Ltd. (SALICO). With over 34 years of experience in the industry, Mr. Chhetry has played a pivotal role in steering the company’s growth and consolidation since its establishment in March 2023, following the merger of Sagarmatha Insurance Company Ltd. and Lumbini General Insurance Company Ltd.

Under his dynamic leadership, SALICO has witnessed remarkable expansion, now operating over 112 branches nationwide and employing approximately 650 professionals. His visionary approach has helped position SALICO as a key player in Nepal’s insurance sector.

Mr. Chhetry previously served as the President of the Nepal Insurers’ Association (NIA), where he championed several initiatives to enhance industry standards, employee development, and service excellence. His leadership extends beyond national boundaries: in November 2024, he was elected to the Executive Board of Trustees of the Association of Insurers and Reinsurers of Developing Countries (AIRDC) for the 2024–2026 term. In this international role, he promotes regional collaboration and the adoption of sustainable insurance and reinsurance practices across developing nations.
